Understanding God's view of time is essential to understand your Bible.

Because God is outside of time (as difficult to understand as it is, we need to accept that reality), God is aware of and able to see the past, present, and future. Because of that, He can state with assurance what will happen.

Understanding this is the basis for understanding prophecy. We see this in a prophet such as Isaiah who, as all true prophets, speaks with the voice and viewpoint of God and because of that often jumps around in his narrative from past, to present, to future, sometimes in the same chapter. When we remember he is speaking for God, this helps to make sense.

In less confusing passages, knowing that God sees all history and has it all under control can give us confidence and peace with our limited view of time seems so confusing.
